3 key areas to highlight your natural beauty

Beauty trends come and go, but your natural features will always stay the same (unless you go for advance cosmetic changes, which is a separate topic of its own). Learning how to highlight certain areas, can help you glow with your natural beauty while feeling good about yourself just as you are.

Working in television, modeling, acting, being a digital influencer and just being a girl in this world has taught me that beauty tends to be a double edge sword. Although it is amazing to find new tips, tricks, styles, etc., it is also important to feel good about ourselves without all of the beauty products we so gladly enjoy. Personally, it took me a long time to feel okay in my own skin and I still battle with it. Yet, something that really helped me was doing my makeup in three key areas.

After doing my natural make up often, I started to feel so much better about no makeup at all and having the same confidence I do when I have full glam done. READY? They are so simple: brows, lashes, and lips. YES, those are the key areas that will help shape your face without a swift of contouring.

Brows:

Shaping your brows will really help define your bone structure, your nose, your cheeks, your everything! I’ve tried anything from pencils, to gel, to stainers and I have found that they all work wonders. It truly depends on your skin and your hair. I love pencil brow liners because they keep my brows with a very natural look. When I really want to tame them down though, use stainers or gels. Being Latina, my brows are naturally pretty bushy, so it just takes knowing what works best for you. Now, the brow picture here shows a perfectly done brow, yet that’s not always the case for us all (especially when we’re in a hurry). I’ve come to learn though, that when I’m in a big hurry having some color to my brows is better than not doing them at all. I personally have yet to master the art of brows, buuuuut not being able to get them done perfectly doesn’t mean I don’t do them. Make up tutorials now a days can teach us lots, but it’s important to remember that even though you can’t always look like your favorite makeup youtuber, you still look beautiful. So, you should feel beautiful. This is key to remember for brows, lashes, lips, and all beauty routines.

Lashes:

Okay for lashes there are three basic options: mascara, fake lashes, or lash extensions. Whichever one you prefer, do it! As long as they get volume and length then you’re good. I used to put on mascara on the daily, but I personally hated it getting everywhere when I itched my eyes ( I have allergies so I do it a lot) or if it was whatever proof, it would always take so long to take it off. Fake lashes, kind of gave me the same issue with itching my eyes. So, then option number three is my current choice, lash extensions. I like them because they are so easy to maintain, but I know that they are not for everyone. Also, if you are new to lash extensions, please do your research on it. Although many charge a lot less, they are not the ideal person for your eye health and eyesight.

Lips:

When it comes to doing your lips, it’s an easy yet repetitive task. Personally, I have always had super dry lips, so I need to hydrate them often and my color doesn’t last too long. Whatever product you decide to use for your lips just make sure you apply along the edges of your lips correctly. Remember, you’re not wearing foundation or powders to hide along other things, so your lips will stand out even more. Lip liners help, but make sure to find a similar color to your lipstick or stainer so it doesn’t look like the opposite of natural (although when we do full on makeup that is what we sometimes want). Remember to reapply the color of your choice whenever needed, this will take some practice and conscious reminding if you’re not used to it. I still have to remind myself to reapply often.  If I don’t have a mirror nearby, I just go for good old clear lipgloss.

Always Remember:

Again, I want to remind you all that whether you do your make up daily or not and whether you’re a makeup artist or a beginner it doesn’t matter. Love who you are just as you are. I hope that doing these three areas and nothing more still helps you feel beautiful like it did with me, because the reality is that you already are beautiful in your own skin.
